Mega Mall Street Art Part 2

Mega Mall Street Art

Fortunately the Mega Mall is still standing in Logan Square so we went around to the back this time to see more of the artwork. There are seriously some really cool pieces spray painted on this building. It will be really sad to see them go. My favorite has to be the pandas. The style that artist took is just breathtaking. I really admire street artists for taking the time to create such beautiful paintings even though they never know how long it will be around.

Our Saturday this weekend ended up being pretty busy, despite not really planning too far in advance. We joined a bar group to go on a field trip to a brewery in the suburb of Lemont.  For $25 we got to ride to the brewery on an unconditioned school bus (boo!), but filled with booze the tour Pollyanna brewery, and end the trip with a cookout. It was fun getting to know some people who frequent a bar that is right by our house, while learning about a new craft brewery and enjoying some beer. Our favorites were their Chain Letter Stout. The logo for that beer was a typewriter, so really, what’s not to love? Another favorite was their Summerly which was a raspberry beer that sort of tasted like a radler. It had a carbonated feel to it and was nice and fruity.

Afterward we met up with some friends in the city to go to a festival and see the Smoking Popes and Local H. We’ve definitely seen the Smoking Popes more times than I can count. Dan complains that their set can be a little boring, but they hold so much nostalgia for me that I still love seeing them, even if they play the same songs every time.

Wow the art is something to be appreciated. From the black lady, Pandas to the brain killer piece. I just wish there was a place where street artists could be creative without it being illegal or their efforts being destroyed. Enjoyed the post

The art on these walls was actually sanctioned through legitimate means, since the building is currently abandoned and scheduled to be demolished.
