In order to take advantage of our sometimes limited free time together, we decided to head downtown before work and visit the Chicago Cultural Center. This was my first time there and I love the idea of visiting such a unique building with art and photography exhibits for free. It was a lot of fun to just walk around and see a lot of different kinds of art from mixed media to bathroom rugs nailed to the wall! Since it is free, you don’t have to worry about seeing everything since you can just go back whenever! Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the beautiful ceiling in one of the large halls because of an event. But if you go to the Chicago Cultural Center, you have to go to the second floor to see an absolutely stunning ceiling. Luckily, Dan has been before and took some pictures.
We haven’t been downtown in quite some time. Once the weather gets cold and snowy, we tend to stick to our neighborhood and only go out if absolutely necessary! It’s nice to see a change of scenery and explore the city where we live. We love traveling and exploring new places, but there is so much of Chicago that we’ve never seen or experienced. Luckily warmer weather should be coming soon and that will give us a chance to ride our bikes and see every little corner of our city. Although as I write this, lots of snow is coming down. Next week we should see some Spring temperatures.
Both of the coats we are wearing are actual we actual found in a thrift store by our house. About once a month we go to our local Salvation Army and find all sorts of goodies. Dan’s blazer is originally from Topman and mine is from Akira. We scored each of these for about $5. I also can’t believe that I found a dress from Camilyn Beth, that would have cost about $200 for less than $5! It also looked like it had only been worn once, if that.
