I hope everyone in the States had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! We enjoyed the company of family over a BBQ at my sister’s in-laws. While humid, the weather was still pretty decent this weekend! So we took advantage of that and played some outdoor games like bags and badminton.
We took these photos on Sunday night when we made a trip out to Wicker Park to get dinner at The Southern. Randomly a few months ago, Groupon informed me that I could get any Groupon up to $40, so of course we jumped on the offer. The deal for The Southern was an appetizer to share and an entrée for each of us. We shared some Mac and Cheese, which is absolutely fantastic. For dinner Dan had the jambalaya and I had a pork roulade. We were both very happy with our choices and left contentedly full.
Our favorite aspect about the restaurant is their gorgeous patio. It should definitely be taken advantage of on beautiful summer nights in the city. It is not right at the street so you aren’t constantly hearing cars zooming by, since it is on a somewhat busy road. They also have lights strung throughout the patio, which gives it such a beautiful glow. We definitely enjoyed sipping our cocktails while waiting for food.
So I’ve been on the lookout for a great chambray dress and I finally found it at the most unassuming location! In Lincoln Square there is a small store called A Secret Closet, which I had thought was all second-hand, but they also sell new items. Like most thrift stores, the tags have different colors on them and the color refers to a certain discounts on the item. This chambray dress was a new dress that I still got at 10% off the original price! The owner does a great job at stocking beautiful new dresses as well as second-hand and vintage items. I could have spent hours in that store perusing the clothes and trying everything on. Not only is it a chambray dress, perfect for the summer, but it has dandelion decals on the top, which is what completely sold me on it.
As for my jewelry, these items where in my most recent and very impressive Rocksbox set. It costs $20 a month to be sent three pieces of jewelry that you can wear as much as you like for as long as you like. When you send back the items you will be sent another box with another set of three items. For more details on how Rocksbox works, check out my post here. I was so excited when I saw this bow necklace in my set. I’m in love with it and wish I never had to take it off! You can choose to purchase an item in your set and I believe that I will be keeping this necklace!
